The Metis Project is a non-profit tutoring program that offers a variety of free tutoring services for aspiring students nationally. We intend to enhance the academic pursuits of our youth, give back to our community, and spread our love for learning. Our services can function thanks to the combined efforts of experienced students from all over the country. In 2022, we were recognized by New York State Senator John Liu of Northeast Queens District 11 for our work.

Requirements

• Must be an incoming freshman or high school student.
• We have no specific GPA requirement, but we do require you to be in relatively good academic standing.
• Access to reliable internet and technology. (This may change if we decide to add in-person tutoring).
• Willing to dedicate enough time to classes and assignments.
• Responsive, respectful, and responsible.
• No experience is necessary; we’ll teach you all you need to know.

Timeline

July 5th - August 25th

Our priority deadline is July 1st, 2024! After that, we accept you on a rolling basis until the next season or as a fill-in substitute. We look forward to reading your application!

Q:  Can I blur out the personal information on my ID?

A: Yes, you may blur out your photo, OSIS number, and barcode.

Q. How will I know I'm accepted?

A: We'll send you an email and you'll be invited to join a Discord server.

Q. Is this a low-commitment or a high-commitment activity?

A: The number of tutees/classes you take on is up to you! For every student you're paired with, you'll tutor them weekly throughout the program.
